Preoccupations with a concert in our country!
After more than a decade of touring, chaos and reinvention, the Canadian post-punk band Preoccupations arrives in Sofia for a concert at the Stroezha club on September 30, 2025. The event at the Stroezha club at the invitation of Fest Team will present the band's latest album - Ill at Ease, which is released on May 9 this year. The album collects dark but infectious songs that carry the anxiety of our time.
Tickets for the concert go on sale on the ticketstation.bg network this Friday, 21.03, at prices starting from 44 leva. Tickets will be sold in stages, with each price category having a limited number of seats. When the specified quotas are exhausted, the prices will be updated.
With five studio albums and over 400 concerts around the world, Preoccupations are a favorite name on the contemporary post-punk scene. Matt Flegel (vocals, bass), Scott "Monty" Munro (guitar, synthesizers), Daniel Christiansen (guitar, keyboards) and Mike Wallace (drums) began their journey in Alberta, Canada and went through many transformations - from chaotic tours, lost luggage and stolen equipment to experiments with sound and a raw approach to music. Ill at Ease promises to continue this tradition of change, drawing influence from 80s Britpop, dark electronic music and the torn rhythm of 90s alternative rock. Elements of Radiohead, INXS, Cheap Trick and The Cars can be recognized.
Lyrically, the album takes the listener into a world where the desolate plains are covered in the dust of shame, fear and ruin, and the things you love are the same ones that kill you. At other times, Ill at Ease looks to a distant future filled with space, loneliness and fleeting hope, while experimenting with drone electronics and gothic melodies. Produced in locations ranging from Monty Munro’s studio in Montreal to Flegel’s basement in Brooklyn, Ill at Ease captures the sonic and lyrical worlds that Preoccupations have been building for 13 years. From the industrial charge of “Sken” to the spaciousness of “Andromeda” and the hypnotic rhythm of “Focus,” the album weaves personal and apocalyptic themes with their trademark unbridled energy.
Known for their energetic and atmospheric live performances, Preoccupations transform the stage into a space for total immersion. On September 30th at the Stroezh club, they will offer an evening filled with pulsating bass lines, deafening guitars and a rhythm that strikes like lightning.
Tickets for the concert in Sofia will be available from March 21st on the TicketStation network. Follow the organizers’ official channels for more information, as well as the Facebook event.
